What is a Twitter Chat?A Twitter Chat, or tweet chat, is a live Twitter event that happens at a predetermined time, where people tweet about a specific subject. There is usually a moderator who poses a series of questions, and the members of the chat respond. Following the chat hashtag lets you see what's happening in the chat.
#utedchat#utedchat is a chat designed specifically for Utah educators. It happens every Wednesday night at 9:00.

Five tips for EdChats on TwitterCheck out Michael Hakkarinen's blog post for more.
1. Don't jump into the deep end before you learn to swim. Even if you don't have a Twitter account, you can see what people are tweeting by going to the address www.twitter.com/their name. For example, you could find my twitter feed at www.twitter.com/mrsmtanner . You can also look at hashtags a similar way. Try checking out https://twitter.com/hashtag/utedchat to see what's been happening at utedchat. 2. Make it simple and just watch. Log into Twitter and follow the conversation, but don't feel pressured to contribute just yet. Just watch the tweets coming in, and favorite ones that look interesting to you. That will make it easier for you to come back later and review what you found interesting. 3. When you're ready to start participating, follow some of the participants of the EdChat. If you find that some tweeters are consistently making comments you find interesting, click to follow them! 4. Use a tool like Tweet Deck to help you follow along and control the pace. Tweet Deck is a free tool that let's you follow people and hashtags simultaneously. This tool can make it simpler to follow the topics you're really interested in. 5. Search previous EdChats to see what you've missed or to review past chats. Lots of chats use Storify to archive what was said during a Twitter Chat. #utedchat archives can be found here. #redwoodtech20* Remember to click "All Tweets" at the top of your screen to see what everyone is saying.
